Benfica look to make millions from summer sales

The football season is coming to an end and for us Benfica fans their is nothing left to look forward to until next season kicks off with the club out of every competition left and with no chance of capturing the league title for a third consecutive season.

Benfica are set for big changes this summer with the clubs most important move bringing in a new manager with a new vision to get this club back on track and that man looks set to be announced shortly in current PSV manager Roger Schmidt. Look for the club to make the announcement of the over the coming weeks as they look to have their manager in place before the summer transfer window gets underway.

Benfica's next steps will be a major overhaul of the clubs current players, look for Valentino Lazaro, Soualiho Meite and Nemanja Radonjic to all return to their respective clubs without Benfica exercising their buy options on all three players loans. Benfica will then commence the sale of many of the clubs current players as they look to hit the €150M mark in summer moves.

The six players most likely to depart the club this summer include:

Darwin Nunez: The clubs crown jewel, Nunez's recent performances against top clubs in the Champions League and his current season performance in the Portuguese League should see the club fetch top dollar for the 22 year old striker. Darwin has 32 goals across all competitions.

Potential sale price: €80M

Rafa Silva: The speedster has spent his entire career in Portugal but as he inches close to the 30 year old mark, Benfica will look to cash in on Rafa during the summer month. Rafa has had another great season for the club amassing 12 goals and 18 assists across all competitions.

Potential sale price: €30M

Julian Weigl: The defensive midfielder at times has been the clubs best player this season, the hard working German is ready to head home after spending the past two and half seasons in Portugal. Weigl who is till just 26 years old has many Bundesliga clubs interested.

Potential sale price: €25M

Alex Grimaldo: One of the longer serving members of the club, the time has come to move on from the skilled left back and with some of Spain's top clubs all sniffing around, Grimaldo should be set to return home during the summer months.

Taarabt: The Moroccan International has regained his form over the pass few seasons and at times can be a difference maker but Benfica need a consistent maestro in the midfield position and they are running out of time to cash in on the 32 year old.

Potential sale price: €5M

Goncalo Ramos: The 20 year old has been a scoring machine at every level he has played including Internationally but was sparingly used by Jorge Jesus, the appointment of Verissimo has seen Ramos play regularly and he has scored 8 goals across all competitions. Here is hoping the club hang onto the youngster but the offers might be too juicy to pass on.

This may not be the only players departing the club in the summer as look for the club to look into also moving on from Haris Seferovic, Gilberto, while Mile Svilar has already signed with Roma on a free transfer for next season.
