European Giants are tracking Benfica center back Toma Araujo

 

Benfica center-back Tomas Araujo has emerged as a top defensive target for both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. The highly-rated 24-year-old Portuguese international's versatile ability to slot into central defense or play at right-back has attracted serious interest from Europe’s elite clubs as they look to reinforce their back lines.

Impressive Form and Stats

Araujo enjoyed a stellar campaigns with the Lisbon side. Through last season, the defender made 39 appearances across all competitions, including nine critical matches in the UEFA Champions League. Showing his technical capability at both ends of the pitch, he registered one goal and two assists while anchoring Benfica’s defense with a commanding 89% passing accuracy.

 

Benfica’s Firm Transfer Stance

Despite mounting pressure from abroad, Benfica remains in a strong negotiating position. Araujo is tied to a long-term contract extension that runs until June 2031. Consequently, the Portuguese Giants have established a firm stance, demanding a fee of around €40 million before they will consider parting ways with their prized defensive jewel.
