Tottenham will not activate option to purchase Vinicius

Benfica Blog
It is looking less and less likely that Tottenham will activate the €45M buy clause on their loan deal with Benfica to purchase striker Carlos Vinicius. With the current world pandemic going on and Tottenham looking set to miss out on the Champions League windfall, their focus shifts to sellers more so then buyers when the summer transfer window opens. Vinicius has scored ten goals across all competitions in 24 games played but has only scored once in Premiership action.

Vinicius played one season at Benfica after arriving from Napoli in the summer of 2019 and led the league in scoring with 18 goals, while setting up another eight. Vinicius would add another five goals across all other competitions for the club. With Benfica having plenty of options in the striker position, don't expect the 26 year old to remain with the Lisbon side next season as the club will look for suitors to take a long look at Vinicius and may even sell the striker for half the price of his current buy clause with Tottenham to recoup and make a little profit on the player.
