Benfica ready to loan right back Ebuehi

Benfica are looking for a club that want to take right back Tyronne Ebuehi on loan for the season as they look to find the 23 year old Ebuehi some regular playing time this year. Ebuehi suffered a knee injury in pre-season last year with Benfica and has not appeared in an official game since April of 2018 when he was still a member of Den Haag. Andre Almeida will be the clubs #1 right back and with youngsters Tomas Tavares and Joao Ferreira set to be lingering around the club, Benfica feel it would be in the best interest of both parties for Ebuehi to play regular minutes.

Benfica open campaign with thumping of Pacos

Benfica opened defense of their Portuguese league title with a 5-0 thumping of newly promoted Pacos Ferreira in front of a home crowd of over 62,000 fans at the Estadio da Luz. Benfica opened the scoring with a "Golaco" from young right back Nuno Tavares who picked out the top corner from a good 40 meters out. Benfica was then awarded a kick from the penalty spot when Pacos defender Bruno Santos got his hand on a cross into the box for Raul de Tomas and Pizzi stepped up to the penalty spot, converting to double the lead and it remained this way until half time. Pacos Ferreira's

Bernardo Martins then received his second yellow card with twenty five minutes left in the game, putting Pacos down to ten men. Benfica would capitalize on this with three goals in a fourteen minute span, as last seasons leading scorer Seferovic would get on the board finishing a nifty pass from substitute Chiquinho. Pizzi followed with his second of the game after a master class of passing from Nuno Tavares and Chiquinho set the midfielder alone on the keeper. Newly acquired Carlos Vinicius rounded out the scoring converting a pass from Nuno Tavares after entering the game six minutes prior. Benfica will next face Belenenses on the road next weekend in a Lisbon Derby.

Benfica loan striker Jose Gomes to Portimonense

Benfica have loaned 20 year old striker Jose Gomes to Portimonense for the season. The once highly regarded prospect has seen many of his teammates at Seixal pass him on the clubs ranking of prospects, but he will be looking for a fresh start on a Portimonense squad with some fire power up front. A member of Portugal's Euro U17 championship squad in 2016, Gomes lead the tournament in scoring with 7 goals and was named to the team of the tournament. That performance lead to him appearing in his first game for the main squad in September of that same year, Gomes appeared in a total of 5 games for Benfica during the 2016/17 season one of which included a Champions League appearance. Since then Gomes has not made an appearance for the main squad and his playing time has diminished over the years with him starting off most of the Benfica B games as a substitute. Benfica hope that Gomes can rekindle a once promising career with a bit more regular minutes at Portimonense.
