Florentino has earned a call up to Portugal national side

Benfica Blog
Florentino Luís has been turning heads this season while playing for Benfica. His strong performances as a defensive midfielder have not gone unnoticed. He’s been solid on the field, showing off skills that get fans excited. From breaking up plays to helping teammates, Florentino’s presence is felt every match. His hard work and dedication shine through in every minute he plays, making him a key figure for his club.

Portugal's national side will be announcing their squad this Friday for the nations next round of Nations League games and manager Roberto Martinez would be wise to give Florentino a call up to the senior side. Florentino has actually scored a pair of goals this season which is unlike the defense first minded midfielder and his stone cold play protecting leads will be an asset Martinez would be wise to add.

The 25 year old has yet to earn his first cap with the senior side after being a constant member of the under age national sides. Florentino captured both the Under 17 and 19 European titles with Portugal and was a key member of those winning squads.

The buzz this season around Luis has been electric. Fans, at the club, recognize his potential. Social media has been filled with praises, and the excitement of the player is palpable. With supporters rallying behind him, his first game in a national shirt could be one of the most memorable moments of his career.

We will find out Friday is Roberto Martinez feels the same.

Benfica need to not look past this weekend's game

Benfica Blog
Benfica have a huge midweek encounter at the Luz against Atletico Madrid when the resume Champions League play but due to their poor start under former manager Roger Schmidt, the club needs to make sure to not look past this weekend's encounter against league side Gil Vicente.

Benfica's form has been much better since the arrival of Bruno Lage to the sidelines and they have moved back into the top three in Portugal but Sporting's sizzling start to the season sees the club sit eight points behind their Lisbon rivals with a game in hand.

Benfica bench boss Bruno Lage may look at making some minor tweaks to his starting eleven as he looks to give some players a rest with this being the club's fourth game in the past two weeks. Benfica faces Gil Vicente later today at the Luz.

Benfica find out Taca de Portugal 3rd round opponents

Benfica Blog
Benfica's 3rd round Taca de Portugal opponent was drawn earlier today and the Lisbon club will square off against fourth division side Pevidem as they look to re-capture a trophy that has now eluded them since the spring of 2017.

The contest is set to take place on October 19, subject to change and Benfica will travel north to face Pevidem which is just outside of Guimaraes. Look for the hosts to take advantage of hosting Portugal's most supported club by potentially moving the game to a bigger venue and away from their 4,400 seat stadium as they look to bring in a windfall in ticket sales.

On another note, Benfica's women squad was stunned today at home, losing their second leg game to Hammarby 2-0 after winning the first leg 2-1 and will not compete in this season's edition of the Champions League.
