Benfica following Chilean midfielder Valdes

Benfica Blog
Benfica has been following 29 year old Chilean attacking midfielder, Diego Valdes who is currently playing in his second season for Mexican side CF America. Benfica sees Valdes as a potential addition to their team and has been closely monitoring his performances in Mexico.

However, signing Valdes would not come without its challenges as Benfica are not the only club monitoring the player as a host of Spanish sides are also said to be interested in acquiring his services. Despite these obstacles, Benfica will continue to evaluate him as a potential asset to their team.

Valdes has appeared in 55 games across all competitions with America since joining the club, scoring 18 goals while setting up an additional 15.

Benfica Blog
Benfica are inching closer to yet another title after a crucial victory yesterday over Braga 1-0. The match was closer on the scoreboard then it was in actual play as Benfica dominated long stretches of the game but were unable to capitalize with goals.

The win puts Benfica seven points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over closest rivals FC Porto, with three games remaining for them on the season. Benfica now need just two victories to clinch their 38th league title and further cement their status as one of Portugal's greatest football clubs.

Benfica's final three games are away at Portimonense and Sporting while hosting Santa Clara in the final game of the regular season.
